Our story

We are highly regarded aviation industry experts and change managers providing professional guidance, innovative solutions, practical training and support to reduce risk, improve safety and well-being and deliver superior outcomes to the airline industry.

Aviation Health Group was founded by CEO Whitney Luxford (nee Hughes) who has over 30 years of experience working in the aviation industry. Herā€™s is a simple but powerful mission;

Our founder, Whitney Luxford (nee Hughes)

Whitney is a well-respected and well know leader in aviation health strategy, change management, and training with over 30 years working in senior management at Qantas, Virgin and Ansett Australia. An AHPRA registered paramedic, she also holds qualifications from Monash University in Civil Aviation Medicine. As a thought leader, she is often sought out as a key speaker in both the medical and aviation arena’s to discuss the challenges of meeting the changing health, safety and well-being needs within the aviation industry.

Our experience

Aviation Health Programmes

We have first-hand experience of running Aviation Health Program portfolios and strategy for some of Australiaā€™s largest carriers including Qantas and Virgin Australia gained over the last 30 years operating in the aviation industry.

Aviation Procedures and Protocols

During the COVID-19 pandemic Whitney was responsible for developing new aviation procedures and process and led large-scale repatriation missions from Wuhan, China for Qantas with oversight of the health and safety of thousands of returning Australian’s.

Successful Projects

We have experience in leading many successful projectsĀ for Qantas and Virgin developing new aviation health policies, procedure documents and protocols, implementing mental health and drug and alcohol programmes as well as supplying large-scale crew training and equipment to manage inflight medical events.
